Project 12 – To provide sewing facilities for young women

In the village there are a number of young women who have no skills and the elders have requested that they be encouraged to learn sewing; so we have purchased, 23 sewing machines (@ £52), and to provided some training to about 25 young women to stimulate and develop their skills - the recipients will be paying half their cost.

Now there are many women who have learnt to sew and can earn their living by doing work for other villagers and/or selling their work outside; this stops them being dependent for their income on field work at £1/day - sewing work can earn them over twice as much.

In 2014 a further 6 women have come forward and wish to purchase sewing machines and have lessons - this is being arranged.
