Origins

Elizabeth-AnnIn 1990, Elizabeth-Ann Davies died suddenly aged 16. The family and friends raised funds which were given to Save the Children Fund (her favourite charity) for a well to be provided in India.

Elizabeth-Ann had been planning to join a school visit to India at the end of 1990; Julie’s parents and sister had lived in India in the 1930’s; Michael’s father, grandfather and great-grandfather had lived in Madras/Chennai between 1880 and 1927.

Save The Children Fund through a local Church in Guntur A.P. (200 miles north of Chennai/Madras) selected Burlavaripalem as the village that would accept a Well that included a Bible inscription on a memorial stone.

Jesus said “The water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life” John 4 v13,14

The Well was completed at the end of 1991.
